Dr. Paige Larkin Carpenter is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 15 years of experience conducting psychotherapy and psychological assessments with children, adults, and families. Dr. Carpenter received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1993 and her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology in 1997, both from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Upon completion of her Master’s degree, Dr. Carpenter worked as a clinical therapist for children and teens remanded to a residential treatment facility in New Orleans. There she engaged children in individual, group, and family therapy to address emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal problems such as defiant behavior, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, depression, and family conflict. Later, Dr. Carpenter was employed by a private medical practice in Bethesda, MD, to conduct neuropsychological evaluations for children and adults with ADHD, acquired cognitive impairments, and closed head injuries.

After gaining years of professional experience in the practice of psychology, Dr. Carpenter returned to school for her doctoral training. She graduated with her Doctor of Psychology degree from the APA Accredited Clinical Psychology program at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Washington DC campus, in 2008. During her doctoral training Dr. Carpenter served as an intensive in-home clinician, conducted psychological assessments for researchers at the National Institute of Mental Health, and completed a pre-doctoral internship at Berkshire Farm Center, a residential treatment facility for conduct disordered boys in New York. Most recently Dr. Carpenter was employed as a clinical therapist in the Day Treatment program at St. Joseph’s Villa in Richmond, where she conducted individual and group psychotherapy with emotionally and behaviorally challenged youths.

Having completed her post-doctoral residency at Dominion Behavioral Healthcare in 2011, Dr. Carpenter is pleased to have joined the excellent staff of psychologists, counselors, social workers, and physicians at the Harbour Pointe office. As a licensed psychologist Dr. Carpenter’s practice includes psychotherapy and psychological evaluation of children and adults. Dr. Carpenter uses an integrative model of psychotherapy that includes cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and solution-focused techniques to address a variety of therapeutic issues. Among her areas of special interest are the diagnosis and treatment of conduct and learning disorders in children and adolescents; treatment of anxiety and mood disorders including depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and panic; and the treatment of family conflict and other relationship challenges.

Dr. Carpenter became a partner of Dominion Behavioral Healthcare of Chesterfield in 2016.
