Michael E. Hayes, Ph.D.

Dr. Hayes earned his Ph.D, in clinical psychology in 1993 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to completing his graduate work, he was employed for five years as a counselor and program director in a Jungian residential setting and subsequently for four years in a state psychiatric facility. After earning his Ph.D., Dr. Hayes has specialized in psychological assessment (socio-emotional, psycho-educational, neuropsychological) and has worked in a variety of settings, including medical hospitals, developmental clinics, schools, juvenile detention centers, residential facilities, and outpatient practice. He has worked extensively with Chesterfield, Henrico, and Hanover county schools and has provided training and supervision in psycho-educational assessment. Dr. Hayes’ particular assessment interests include the identification and amelioration of cognitive and socio-emotional factors that impact learning, self-regulation (e.g., ADHD), and the ability to cope with chronic illness.
