Jeannette Abelson, LCSW

Jeannette Abelson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in a variety of mental health and criminal justice capacities. She earned her Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Interpersonal Practice, from the University of Michigan in 1998. Jeannette began her post-masters work with the Department of Juvenile treating incarcerated adolescents, and has spent the last ten years working as a clinician and supervisor with the Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Adult Drug Court.

Jeannette utilizes evidence-based treatment for a variety of emotional and behavioral issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, anger, and family issues. She has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults and families who struggle with addictive behaviors such as eating disorders, stealing, substance abuse, and sexual addiction.
